Swiss Medical Missions to the German eastern front (1941-1943) (AfZ photo collection, album Margrit Haag).

With the aim of improving strained relations with the Third Reich, a committee of representatives from the military, diplomacy, medicine and business initiated the Swiss Medical Missions under the patronage of the Red Cross. Participants in the missions, which were already controversial at the time, witnessed Nazi Germany's war crimes in Russia, Poland and Latvia between 1941 and 1943.
